Copenhagen Flames sign female CS:GO team

Today we can unveil a piece of very exciting news, as we’ve signed the female CS:GO team formerly known as Assassins.

The team is undoubtedly among one of the best female squads in the world but beyond that they also have goals for breaking into the male scene. Director of esport Daniel Vorborg expands on the reasoning of the signing:

“With this signing we are strengthening our position in the CS:GO market, which both is and will be a big focus of ours moving forward. Whenever you get the opportunity to sign a team that is among the favorites in $100.000 tournaments, you’d be a fool not to look into the option. We view the team as being a top 4 female team in the world, but with the hard work and effort the team is putting in; we are very optimistic about the team submitting themselves as #1 in the female scene.

I’ve been very impressed with the passion and drive that lies within this team and it’s clear to me that they are committed to put in the work it requires to achieve greatness. We are very much looking forward to supporting them in the best way possible.”

We caught up with Michaela “mimi” Lintrup for a chat about the team and their expectations:

The team will be playing next weekend at Dreamhack Valencia, in the Showdown tournament, where eight female teams will compete for the prize pool of $100.000, and a spot at Dreamhack Open Rotterdam. The spot af Dreamhack Open Rotterdam is especially enticing, as it’s viewed as a proving ground for some of the male teams about to break into the top level of CS:GO.

Most recently the team finished 2nd at Copenhagen Games, and 4th at IEM Katowice – both in the female tournaments. The team is also competing in ESEA Open, where they have qualified for playoffs with a 12-4 record.
