Flames CS:GO - Roster Update
Today we announce big changes to our CS:GO roster, as we welcome back Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen to the Flames family! At the same time, we will also be adding the 17 year old prodigy Rasmus “Zyphon” Nordfoss to our roster.
In the process of rebuilding, Magnus “Nodios” Olsen has decided to bench himself, because he did not see him fit well into the new team in terms of in-game roles.
Head of Esports, Daniel Vorborg explains the changes to our roster:
“After we agreed with Asger “AcilioN” Larsen to look into new options for both parties; I quickly knew that I wanted to get a hold of Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen. I’ve worked with HooXi before and have always appreciated him as a player and leader. Luckily for us; HooXi has also enjoyed working with us in the past and it was quickly evident that both parties wanted to make this work. After discussions back and forth between myself and HooXi, we arrived at bringing in a veteran player in roeJ to help guide and lead a lot of the young talent we’d have on the team. We also decided to bring in Zyphon, as he is one of the most gifted individual players either of us has seen in a long time.
Before and throughout the discussions with HooXi, roeJ and Zyphon – I also had talks with Nodios, jabbi and nicoodoz about the direction we were going. Everyone felt that going with HooXi was the best option for the team but as the roster took shape with roeJ and Zyphon, it was clear that we needed an anchor player to round out the rifle positions. I had a couple of talks with Nodios about this and while he has in the past played a lot of those positions, he didn’t feel like that is the direction he wanted to go with his career. While he is fine playing some of the anchor positions, he didn’t feel like it was right for him to take those positions on most maps. Nodios then decided to bench himself early on in the process. I completely respect Nodios’ decision and I agree that I believe his future to be in more central roles, commandeering the battle on sites like Vertigo A or Inferno B on the CT side.
At the same time, even though jabbi started out in Copenhagen Flames playing a lot of star positions, with time he has slowly transitioned into more and more anchor positions. With the creation of this new lineup, jabbi will take over most of those positions while also moving from map control to lurking on the T side. I have great amounts of belief in jabbi’s capabilities of growing into these roles, as he has always impressed me with how quickly he develops.
Rounding out the team will of course be nicoodoz on the AWP. He has really impressed me lately and has started to take a lot more initiative and responsibility. If he can keep this up, I expect him to be able to develop into an incredibly important player for the team.
So while this was not what I wanted, or anticipated, to happen at the start of creating this past lineup, I am very happy with the lineup we have put together.
I really want to thank Marcus “mankz” Kjeldsen, Asger “AcilioN” Larsen and Magnus “Nodios” Olsen, who are all moving on to new lineups now. I truly do believe that they are great players and certainly good enough to be representing Copenhagen Flames. However, the circumstances did not allow it this time around. I had talks and discussions with all the players throughout the process, and they were extremely professional in their handling of some very tough situations.”
